He said his 25-year journey has been filled with “gratitude, memories, lessons, and love,” adding that his success belongs not just to him, but to everyone who believed in him.
“As I stand on the threshold of 25 years in this incredible journey called music, my heart is full of gratitude, memories, lessons, and love.
This celebration is not mine alone. It belongs to everyone who played a role in shaping the story of Innocent Idibia, 2Baba,” he wrote.
Appreciation to Early Supporters
2Baba thanked several people who helped him at the beginning of his career, including Nelson Brown, Baba Keke (Kenny Ogungbe), D1 (Dayo Adeneye), Eddie Lawani, and DJ Jimmy Jatt.
He credited Nelson Brown for discovering Plantashun Boiz, the group that launched his career alongside Faze and Blackface.
“You were the first to believe in three young men when no one else did. You gave us a voice when we barely had a microphone,” he wrote.
He also thanked Baba Keke and D1 for giving him his first professional record deal, which he said changed his life and impacted the Nigerian music industry.
“You opened doors that led us from dreams to destiny. We made history together. You stood as mentors and big brothers, and your names will forever be part of my story,” 2Baba said.
He appreciated Eddie Lawani for giving Plantashun Boiz a platform to perform when opportunities were few and praised DJ Jimmy Jatt for his loyalty and support from the beginning of his career.
A Celebration of Nigerian Music
2Baba described his anniversary as not just a personal celebration, but a recognition of everyone who contributed to the growth of Nigerian music.
“Without the people who believed, corrected, and supported me, my story would have been incomplete,” he said.
Starting his career in the late 1990s as part of Plantashun Boiz, 2Baba went on to become one of Africa’s most respected artists with timeless hits like “African Queen,” “If Love Is a Crime,” and “For Instance.”
Over the years, he has used his music to promote love, unity, and social change, while also engaging in humanitarian projects that inspire young people across Africa.
