Suspected bandits attacked Irunda Ile in Yagba East, Kogi State, on Wednesday morning, killing two vigilantes.
After the attack, angry youths protested the frequent bandit raids.

According to eyewitnesses, when police officers arrived, the youths asked them to follow the bandits into the bush.
A clash followed, and the police allegedly killed two youths by mistake. Several others were injured by tear gas.
A community leader, Chief David Oni Sunday, confirmed that “two vigilantes were killed by the bandits and two youths were mistakenly killed by the police.”
Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omadora (rtd), also confirmed the attack.
He said security forces were already working to chase out the bandits and had recently neutralised some of them, adding that the government would not allow criminals to operate in the state.
