Army Launches New High-Tech Centre for Military Training

The Nigerian Army has opened a new modern Wargaming Centre at the Department of Land Warfare in the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji.

The centre is designed to upgrade military training and improve how the Army plans and carries out operations.

The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Appolonia Anele, announced the development on the Army’s official X (Twitter) page.

Speaking at the event on Saturday, the Commandant of AFCSC, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Alhaji, said the College is committed to training officers to be smart, prepared, and capable of handling leadership roles in today’s challenging security situations.

He explained that the Wargaming Centre was an initiative of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu. According to him, the new facility will help officers learn modern strategies, think more critically, and make better decisions in battle.

Alhaji thanked the Army leadership for providing what he called a world-class facility. He also promised that the College will continue to deliver high-quality military education.

In his remarks, the COAS, Lt.-Gen. Shaibu, said AFCSC plays a major role in training officers who can deal with Nigeria’s changing security problems. He said the Wargaming Centre will help commanders plan, practice, and carry out military operations more accurately.

Shaibu stressed that investing in advanced training technology is important for staying ahead of threats. He encouraged both students and instructors to make full use of the centre, noting that modern warfare now involves fast-changing and technology-driven challenges.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to upgrading military training facilities across the Army to meet global standards. He added that the College’s growing international reputation makes the new centre timely and necessary.

Shaibu thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting national security, saying this support has helped the Army continue improving its operations. He also praised the Commandant and the entire AFCSC staff for their dedication to professionalism.
