The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended the two-week warning strike it started earlier.
The union said it is giving the Federal Government one month to meet its demands.

ASUU warned that if the government fails to act within the given time, it will resume the strike.
The union began the warning strike on October 13, 2025.
ASUU President, Professor Chris Piwuna, announced this during a press briefing at the union’s headquarters at the University of Abuja. He accused the Federal Government of ignoring the union’s demands.
Piwuna explained that despite the 14-day notice ASUU issued on September 28, 2025, the government has not fulfilled its promises.
He added that there has been no progress that would have stopped the union from going on strike.
“All ASUU branches across the country were directed to withdraw their services from 12 midnight on Monday,” Piwuna said.
The union warned that if the government fails to address the issues within the one-month window, it will take more serious action after the warning strike ends.
