The Bauchi State Government has denied claims that Governor Bala Mohammed is planning to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
The rumour started after PRP’s Publicity Secretary in Bauchi, Hon. Wada Abdullahi, said the governor would not be welcomed in the party—even if he wanted to join.
He claimed the governor’s performance in Bauchi does not meet PRP’s standards.
But Governor Mohammed’s media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, said on Wednesday that the governor has never thought about leaving the PDP. He said there has been no discussion or move toward joining the PRP.
Gidado explained that Gov. Mohammed is actually helping to strengthen the PDP and has defeated the PRP in previous elections.
He added that Bauchi State has made progress under the governor, especially in empowerment, infrastructure, rural development, and tourism.
The government criticised the PRP for spreading what it called false and baseless claims. Gidado urged the public not to be deceived by political propaganda.
He said the governor has the right to choose his political path, but any future decision will not be based on lies or rumours.
