The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has announced the appointment of CP Dantawaye Miller as its new Commissioner of Police.
He officially took over the position on Friday, October 17, 2025, from CP Ajao Adewale, who has been redeployed for another assignment by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

According to a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the new police commissioner promised to continue improving security in the FCT and to strengthen cooperation between the police and local communities.
She said CP Miller is determined to build on the existing security system to ensure the safety of all residents of the nation’s capital.
The Police Command also called on residents to keep supporting the police in their collective effort to maintain peace and security across the territory.
SP Adeh described Dantawaye Miller as a seasoned police officer with over 20 years of experience in different commands across the country.
Born on October 15, 1971, in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, he is the son of the late DCP Gajere Dantawaye. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in May 2000 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and began his career in Bayelsa State in 2002.
Miller has served in several key positions, including Acting Aide-de-Camp to a former governor of Bayelsa State, Escort Commander to a former Vice President, Chief Security Officer at the Ministry of Petroleum, and Commander of MOPOL 24 attached to the Presidential Villa.
He has also worked as Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in the FCT, Area Commander in Adamawa, Deputy Commissioner of Police in Yobe and Edo States, and Commissioner of Police in charge of Information Technology at the Force Headquarters. Before his new posting, he was the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State.
The FCT Command remains one of the most important police formations in the country, responsible for protecting the seat of government, diplomatic missions, and other key national assets.
In recent times, the area has faced growing security challenges despite ongoing police efforts.
