Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has said he will not contest for any political office in the 2027 elections.
He made this known in Kaduna while welcoming new members who left the PDP to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Aliyu Bello.

El-Rufai explained that after leaving office in 2023, he planned to step away from politics. But he returned because of recent events, not for personal ambition, but to support good leadership.
He also criticised the current government, saying Nigerians can already see its failures.
“This government lies every day. I am not running for Senate or any position. I only want us to unite and remove the oppressors,” he said.
El-Rufai added that his focus now is to guide and support young people, women, and reform-minded Nigerians to take part in politics.
He encouraged Kaduna youths to register for their voter cards, noting that Lagos and Osun states had about 600,000 new registrations each, while Kaduna had only 60,000.
“Anyone who is 18 years old should go and register. Registration gives you the right to choose your leaders,” he said.
