Nigeria’s Constitution Forbids Religious Persecution – Minister Tuggar

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, says the country’s constitution does not support any form of religious persecution.

He made this statement in Berlin, Germany, after former U.S. President Donald Trump threatened military action over alleged killings of Christians in Nigeria.

“It is impossible for any level of government in Nigeria to support religious persecution,” Tuggar said.

He explained that both Muslims and Christians suffer from insecurity in Nigeria and that claims of Christian persecution are false.

Tuggar warned against attempts to divide the country along religious lines, saying such actions could create a crisis like the one in Sudan.

He emphasized that Nigeria remains committed to religious freedom and the rule of law, describing Trump’s statements as exaggerated and unhelpful.
