NRC Trains Abuja–Kaduna Train Staff Ahead of Service Resumption

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has started a four-day training program for staff of the Abuja–Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) at Idu Station, Abuja. The training is part of preparations for the resumption of train operations on the route.

The training, which runs from Monday to Thursday, includes classroom lessons and three days of practical sessions onboard trains. Staff will practice real-life operational situations to strengthen their capacity and improve safety.

Senior officials present at the opening included Dr. Zang James, Director of Corporate Planning (representing the Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa), Mr. Paschal Nnorli from Human Resources, Engr. Adesegud Ogunade, Mr. Adediran Adedamola from Health and Safety, and other departmental heads from the corridor.

In his remarks, Mr. Nnorli praised the initiative, saying the training was meant to refresh staff knowledge and ensure effective teamwork. He reminded staff that discipline and cooperation are essential, and warned that misconduct would not be tolerated.

Mr. Adediran handled the safety session, teaching staff how to spot hazards and manage risks, while Engr. Ogunade emphasized the importance of following rules, maintaining integrity, and being professional.

Speaking on behalf of the MD, Dr. Zang urged staff to take the training seriously and assured them that more department-specific sessions would follow to deepen learning.

The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Engr. Monday Adejo, who commended NRC management for investing in staff development and promised that the lessons learned would help deliver safer and smoother train services.
