NUJ FCT Celebrates Stella Din Jacob’s Appointment as Executive Director News, NTA

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has applauded the appointment of Barrister Stella Din Jacob as the new Executive Director of News at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), describing it as a historic milestone.

She becomes the first woman ever to occupy the position.

In a statement signed by its Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, the Council hailed Jacob as an accomplished broadcaster whose remarkable career spans decades of excellence, mentorship, and leadership in the Nigerian media industry.

The NUJ noted that Jacob’s impact has been deeply felt across leading media organizations, including Silverbird Group, Channels Television, and TVC News, where she distinguished herself in managing newsrooms and driving credible, balanced, and impactful journalism.

The statement also highlighted her role as a mentor, recalling that the current NUJ FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, once worked under her guidance as a young reporter at the Silverbird Group, an example of her enduring influence on the next generation of journalists.

Describing the appointment as well-deserved, the NUJ praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting Jacob with the role, noting that the decision reflects his administration’s commitment to inclusive leadership.

“Her vast experience, legal background, and professional qualifications bring a rare blend of media expertise and legal acumen. We are confident her leadership at the NTA will drive growth, innovation, national unity, and inspire young journalists, especially women, across Nigeria,” the statement read.

The NUJ FCT Council expressed pride in her achievements and assured her of their full support as she takes on the new responsibility of leading news at the nation’s foremost broadcaster.
