PDP Convention in Trouble as Anyanwu Reports Forged Signature to DSS

The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has complained to security agencies that his signature was forged on a letter sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) about the party’s upcoming national convention.

In a petition seen by Arabella, Anyanwu said the letter dated August 29, 2025, which notified INEC about the convention, was not signed by him.

He said his signature was cloned without his knowledge and asked the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Inspector-General of Police to investigate the matter and punish those responsible.

The PDP has been facing internal crises since its 2023 presidential primaries, where former Vice President Atiku Abubakar defeated Nyesom Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Ahead of the national convention scheduled to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16, there have been divisions within the party.

While the governors and most members of the National Working Committee (NWC) are working to ensure the convention holds, those loyal to Wike, led by Anyanwu, have made certain demands that must be met before the event can proceed.

Despite the disagreements, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, has said the convention will go ahead as planned.

In his petition dated October 15, 2025, and sent to INEC, the police, and the DSS, Anyanwu wrote: “My attention has been drawn to an official letter to INEC with reference number PDP/DOM/GF.2/Vol. 1M/25 – 140 dated August 25, 2025, which was supposedly signed by me. That letter was never written, signed, or approved by me. It is shocking to see a fake version of my signature on it.”

He called on the security agencies to carry out a full investigation to uncover those behind the alleged forgery.

The revelation and an ongoing court case over the convention are now creating uncertainty about whether the event will hold as planned.
