Police Rescue Mother, Children, Nab Father With Firearm In FCT

The Federal Capital Police (FCT) Police Command has rescued a mother with her 8 and 3 years old children after they were forced out of their house alongside her 9-month-old baby by the husband.

Police said their father, a 45-year-old Mr. David Tersoo, a contractor with history of domestic abuse was arrested with substance suspected to be illicit drugs.

Tersoo had reportedly locked himself behind a bulletproof door while armed, after police tried to arrest him for domestic violence.

According to the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the Command received a distress call reporting a case of domestic assault on September 9, 2025.

Adeh said the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Adewale Ajao promptly deployed the DPO Mpape Division and operatives of the Command’s Gender Unit to the scene in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs.

“The children were rescued, one of them found with visible bruises. Their mother was later traced and placed in protective custody with her children.

“The suspect, identified as Mr. David Tersoo, 45 years old, a contractor with a history of domestic abuse, had locked himself behind a bulletproof door while armed.

“After sustained efforts, officers secured his arrest without casualties. A pump-action firearm, white powder, and other suspected illicit substances were recovered. He has been taken in for drug testing as part of ongoing investigations,” the FCT police spokesperson said.

CP Ajao commended the Ministry of Women Affairs and the vigilant neighbours whose swift intervention helped to prevent tragedy.

He urged victims of domestic violence to speak out and assured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and ensuring justice.
