Pregnant Woman and Toddler Killed in Kano Community

Residents of Sheka Sabuwar Gandu community in Kano Municipal Local Government Area were thrown into fear on Saturday night after a pregnant woman and her 18-month-old son were killed by unknown attackers.

The incident was discovered around 8:00 pm when the woman’s husband returned home from work and found the house locked. Neighbours said he asked around before forcing the door open, where he found the bodies of his wife and child inside the house.

The identities of the victims were not released for security reasons. Community members quickly reported the incident to the authorities.

Confirming the incident, the community leader, Ahmad Sani, said residents were shocked and deeply disturbed by the killings.

“This community is peaceful, and we have never experienced something like this before,” he said.

Sani complained about the lack of security in the area, noting that although a police outpost had been built in the community, no officers had been deployed there.

He appealed to the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Dr Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, to urgently improve security in the area to prevent further attacks.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said he could not provide details because investigations were still ongoing.

Residents have called on security agencies to act quickly to arrest those responsible, as fear and tension remain high in the community.
