Russian President Vladimir Putin will soon undergo cancer surgery, according to the British newspaper The Sun, which cites Kremlin insiders as its source.
In his absence, his current spy chief, Nikolai Patrushev, would take over from the current leader.

Although Patrushev’s name is unknown to the general public, he is a very important figure in the invasion of Ukraine.
In fact, he was instrumental in starting the war by, according to The Sun, convincing Putin that Ukraine was full of Nazis and needed to be brought to heel.
This is not the first time Putin’s health problems have come to light. The newspaper recalls that these reports appeared a year and a half ago.
At the time, General SVR, a Russian media outlet, reported that the president would undergo an operation.
In any case, the same sources point out that Vladimir Putin’s absence would be brief, so his distance from the front line in terms of decision-making might not be particularly noticeable. The date of his surgery has not yet been set.
Reports indicate that Putin’s illness is not serious, although doctors did explain that it was progressing and that action would be needed to avoid future complications.
