Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has said the growing insecurity in Nigeria shows a clear failure of leadership.
He called for an urgent and independent investigation into claims that some government officials are supporting terrorists.

Obi made this known after a viral video showed suspected terrorists saying they received weapons and logistics from government officials. He said such allegations are serious and must be properly investigated.
“A disturbing video from Kwara State shows arrested terrorists claiming that government officials supplied them with ammunition and logistics. This allegation demands an immediate and transparent investigation.”
He said insecurity has continued to worsen despite the huge amount of money spent on security over the years.
“Trillions of naira and billions of dollars have been spent on security, yet insecurity keeps spreading across the country in a more dangerous manner.”
Obi also questioned why modern security technology is not being used to track and arrest terrorists, even though Nigeria has the capacity to do so.
“The government controls communication systems, intelligence and financial tracking, yet kidnapping and terrorism continue to thrive.”
He further criticised the celebration of the release of abducted victims without arresting those responsible, saying it shows a lack of seriousness.
He warned that persistent insecurity either means government failure or silent support, stressing that the main duty of any government is to protect lives and property.
