Rivers State Governor Says Peace Has Returned After Six Months of Political Problems

The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has stated that political conflicts disrupted the state’s government for six months.

He is now happy that peace has returned.

The governor spoke at a golf tournament in Port Harcourt. He said that some people who are against the state have used its challenges as a weapon.

They spread false information to make Rivers State look bad for their own benefit.

Governor Fubara condemned this campaign of misinformation.

He wanted to make it clear that Rivers State is peaceful and open for business, tourism, and events.

He pointed to the large number of visitors from across Africa who came for the golf tournament as proof that the state is safe.

He said that many negative stories in the media are exaggerated and politically motivated.

“More than half of the things you read in the media are not true,” the governor said.

“Our goal is simple: to change this negative story, protect our state, and remind everyone that Rivers State is safe.”

A senior army officer at the event, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, said the peaceful atmosphere was the reason they felt comfortable holding the tournament in the state.

The main organizer of the event, Chief Ikenna Okafor, was delighted that the Governor attended. He mentioned that this was the first time a sitting governor had visited the club in 15 years.

He also said the tournament attracted players from eight African countries and 36 Nigerian golf clubs, showing great confidence in the state.
