The accident happened on Monday evening while the journalists were returning from a wedding in the Gombe South Senatorial District.
The journalists had travelled to attend the wedding of a colleague who works with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). Their names had not been released at the time of reporting.
The Gombe State FRSC Sector Commander, Samson Kaura, said there were 11 people in the bus. He explained that seven people died, while four were injured.
According to him, the accident was a single-vehicle crash. Early investigations suggest that a tyre burst may have caused the driver to lose control after suddenly applying the brakes.
FRSC rescue teams arrived at the scene quickly. The injured victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Kaura said investigations are still ongoing and a full report will be released later.
