At least 12 people, including four children, died on Tuesday in a road accident on the Owerri–Onitsha expressway in Imo State.
The accident happened when a gas tanker truck, marked T 16716 LA and carrying the inscription NUPENG, drove against traffic and collided with a bus.

The bus was carrying members of the Jehovah’s Witness Church from Anambra State to Agwa village in Imo.
Police spokesman Henry Okoye confirmed that eight adults and four children died, while eight others were injured.
The bodies of the victims have been taken to Ogbaku Mortuary, and the injured are being treated at Divine Hospital Awo-Omamma.
Okoye said police have started investigating the accident.
He also added that the road has been cleared and traffic is now flowing again, thanks to the joint efforts of the police and road safety officers.
