Tinubu Decorates New Service Chiefs, Tells Them to Crush Emerging Security Threats

President Bola Tinubu has decorated the newly appointed Service Chiefs with their new military ranks, marking the official start of their duties as leaders of Nigeria’s armed forces.

Those decorated include:

President Tinubu had announced their appointment the previous week, saying the change was necessary to strengthen national security and improve the country’s defence strategy.

Tinubu: “Stop New Security Threats Before They Grow”

Speaking during the decoration ceremony at the State House in Abuja, President Tinubu told the Service Chiefs to act quickly and decisively against new security threats across the country. He said Nigerians expect results, not excuses.

“I congratulate you on your appointment and confirmation by the Senate,” Tinubu said. “As your Commander-in-Chief, I am giving you a big responsibility that requires total commitment and dedication.”

He emphasized that security is the foundation of national development and that his administration would continue to prioritize the protection of lives and property.

“Without security, development cannot happen,” the President said. “Our people must be safe to enjoy the benefits of good governance.”

President Commends Military Sacrifices

President Tinubu praised Nigeria’s armed forces for their bravery and sacrifices in reclaiming territories once controlled by terrorists.

“Our military has shown great courage and professionalism,” he said. “Many soldiers have paid the ultimate price to protect our country. We must honor their sacrifice by keeping Nigeria safe.”

However, Tinubu expressed concern about the rise of new armed groups in the North-Central, North-West, and parts of the South.

“Security threats keep changing,” he warned. “We must not allow new groups to grow. Be proactive and crush them before they spread. Let’s hit the new snakes on the head.”

Tinubu Promises Full Support

The President assured the military of full government support, including the resources and tools needed to fight insecurity effectively.

“I promise to give you everything necessary to get the job done,” he said. “May God keep our armed forces safe.”

Service Chiefs Pledge Loyalty and Commitment

Speaking on behalf of the Service Chiefs, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, thanked the President and Nigerians for their trust and support.

He promised that the armed forces would do everything possible to end insecurity and ensure peace in every part of the country.

“We will do our best to rid Nigeria of crime and make the country safe for development,” Oluyede said.

He also reaffirmed the military’s loyalty to President Tinubu and commitment to defending democracy.

“We pledge our loyalty to Mr. President and will support his efforts to build a better and stronger Nigeria,” he added.
