Troops Arrest Suspected Kidnapper In Taraba

Nigerian Army troops from 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested a suspected kidnapper named Abubakar Bawa.

He was caught while trying to escape from Wukari Local Government Area in Taraba State.

His arrest is part of Operation Zafin Wuta, a military operation meant to clear out criminals who have been terrorising southern Taraba communities.

The army says Bawa is linked to another suspected kidnapping leader, Umar Musa, who was arrested on November 22, 2025.

Early investigations show that both men are connected to a bigger criminal group responsible for many kidnappings and attacks in the region.

Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, praised the troops for their efforts.

He said the arrest shows that the operation is working and helping to dismantle criminal gangs and bring security back to communities.

The army called on residents to stay alert and report useful information. The suspect is currently in custody and being interrogated.
