Wike Promises Support for Tinubu’s Second Term

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has promised to support President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office.

Wike made this promise during a meeting with members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday. His media aide, Lere Olayinka, confirmed this.

The meeting took place during an end-of-year thanksgiving service organised by a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche.

Speaking to the party members, Wike said their efforts would not be wasted. He asked them to continue supporting President Tinubu, even though they faced pressure and threats in their state.

Wike said he openly supported Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, even when it was difficult to do so in Rivers State.

He said he would continue to support Tinubu now that the political situation is easier. He also said that those who supported Tinubu early were later recognised after Tinubu won the election.

“I thank you for standing with us all these years. We know those who are not grateful,” Wike said.

He explained that supporting Tinubu in 2023 required courage because many people were not sure Tinubu would win and were afraid to support him openly.

“In politics, you must take a clear position and believe it will bring good results. Now, we can see that it has worked,” Wike added.
