The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned that the way the current governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are behaving could destroy the party.
Wike said this while speaking with journalists in Abuja on Friday. He accused the PDP governors of not handling the crisis in the party properly.

According to reports, there is a serious disagreement between Wike and the PDP governors. The party is preparing for its national convention scheduled for next month in Ibadan, Oyo State, but Wike’s supporters are said to be planning to stop it.
Recently, the National Secretary of the PDP, Samuel Anyanwu, accused the National Working Committee (NWC) of forging his signature in a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) about the convention. However, some party members claimed Anyanwu was acting on behalf of Wike’s group.
Speaking further, Wike said: “Didn’t I say before that the trap you are setting will catch you? I warned that with the way these governors are running things, they will bury this party.
“You can’t hold PDP meetings, call them stakeholders’ meetings, and exclude me because I’m not a governor. You can’t succeed that way.”
Wike also denied supporting the endorsement of Tanimu Turaki, a former Minister of Special Duties, as the next PDP national chairman.
“I don’t know anything about Tanimu Turaki becoming chairman. Maybe he will lead another faction, but not the PDP I know,” he said.
Wike added that he saw the current wave of defections in the party coming long ago.
“From the start, I said if things continue like this, PDP will keep losing. Things are not being done properly, and now everyone can see the result. It’s shameful,” he said.
He also criticized one of the governors who chaired the convention committee, saying the entire process was filled with games and deceit.
“Everything I said before is now happening,” Wike concluded.
