Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet senior Pentagon officials in Kyiv on Thursday, his office announced. This comes as reports surface that the United States is working on a plan to end the war with Russia in a way that favours Moscow.
The meeting will happen one day after Steve Witkoff, sent by US President Donald Trump, failed to attend a planned meeting with Zelensky in Turkey.

This was a setback for Ukraine, which has been trying to revive diplomatic talks and get stronger US support against Russia’s invasion.
The visit also follows a deadly Russian strike that killed at least 26 people, one of the worst attacks in Ukraine this year.
A US delegation led by Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday. Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko met him and said the visit would allow the US team to see “the real impact of Russian aggression.”
Zelensky’s aide, Dmytro Lytvyn, confirmed the president will meet the delegation.
The US team also met Ukraine’s Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal on Wednesday evening. Since Donald Trump returned to office in January, US officials have rarely travelled to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, US media report that Washington and Moscow are secretly discussing a plan to end the nearly four-year war. A source told AFP the plan would force Ukraine to give up some of its territory and drastically reduce its army — terms described as a form of surrender.
Russia has refused to comment on the reports.
The US and Ukrainian governments have also not made any public statements about the alleged plan.
