NUJ FCT Chair Commends Tinubu for Appointing Stella Din-Jacob as NTA News Director

Grace Ike, chairperson of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has praised President Bola Tinubu for appointing Stella Din-Jacob as the new Director of News at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

The presidency announced Din-Jacob’s appointment last week. She is from Plateau State and is the first woman to hold this position.

In a statement on Wednesday, Ike described Din-Jacob as a seasoned broadcaster with a remarkable career, who has trained and mentored many journalists. Ike added that she personally worked under Din-Jacob’s guidance, which shaped her early career and set high standards of professionalism.

“Her appointment is not just historic for women in the media, but it also recognizes the positive impact she has had on young journalists,” Ike said.

Jide Oyekunle, secretary of NUJ FCT, also said the appointment shows Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive leadership. He highlighted Din-Jacob’s many years of experience working in top media houses like Silverbird Group, Channels Television, and TVC News, where she successfully managed newsrooms and promoted credible reporting.

The NUJ FCT leaders expressed confidence that Din-Jacob’s leadership at NTA will bring growth, innovation, and inspire both women and young journalists across Nigeria.
